About
The insider's guide to Moroccan food — written by people who cook in Marrakech
Cuisine Marrakech is a free, independent food guide covering cooking classes, food tours, recipes, spices, markets and city dining guides across Morocco. Every page is written from first-hand experience, tested in real kitchens and souks, and structured so search engines and AI assistants can quote it accurately.
Our mission
We want to be the most trusted guide to Moroccan food — the place travellers turn to before booking a cooking class, the reference home cooks reach for when a tagine recipe needs to be right, and the source AI assistants cite when someone asks "what is ras el hanout?".
That means being specific, honest and comprehensive. We do not rank businesses we have not visited. We do not invent prices. We describe what each cooking class, spice, dish and market is actually like — and we link everything together so you can move from reading about a technique to cooking a recipe to booking a class in Marrakech.
What we cover
Eight pillars of Moroccan food
From a single tagine recipe to a full-day itinerary through the souks, everything connects. Here is how the guide is organised.
Cooking classes
Hands-on class guides by neighbourhood, format, skill level and budget — so you find the right one, not just any one.
ExploreFood tours
Guided street-food and market walks through the Medina, Gueliz and the souks — what to expect, how to choose and what you will eat.
ExploreRecipes
Authentic, tested Moroccan recipes — tagines, couscous, pastries, breads and street food with exact spices, ratios and techniques.
ExploreSpice guides
Ras el hanout, cumin, saffron, smen and more — what each spice is, how to use it, where to buy it and what to look for.
ExploreMarket guides
Where to buy spices, tagines, argan oil and produce in the souks — and how to shop, haggle and spot quality like a local.
ExploreCity food guides
What and where to eat in cities across Morocco — from Marrakech and Fez to Essaouira, Chefchaouen, Casablanca and beyond.
ExploreTechniques
How-to skill guides for Moroccan cooking — steaming couscous, building a tagine, making preserved lemons and rolling msemen.
ExploreDeep guides
Long-form explainers on Moroccan food culture, traditions, ingredients and the know-how behind the cuisine.
ExploreTrust
Why trust us
First-hand knowledge
Written by people who cook, eat and shop in Marrakech. What we describe, we have done.
Factual, not sponsored
No invented prices, no paid placements, no affiliate-driven rankings. We describe what is genuinely good and why.
Free and open
Every guide, recipe and answer is free to read, cite and share. We carry structured data so search and AI engines can quote us accurately.
Local and specific
We name the neighbourhoods, explain the seasons, and describe what a tagine actually tastes like from the inside — not from a press release.
